Song Xanh Sampan, dedicated mainly to overnight cruises, are decked out with all the amenities including one or two private cabins and a spacious bathroom.

At the halfway mark lies Sa Dec, a charming, quaint little city at the crossroads of several cultures - Vietnamese, Chinese, Khmer and French - which played an important part in the development of the Mekong Delta under the French colonial influence in Indochina. It is now mostly known for being the setting of “The Lover” in the eponymous novel and film by celebrated French writer Marguerite Duras.

Day 1: Cai Be – Sa Dec - Can Tho (L/D)

Be picked up at your hotel at 8h00am and transfer to Cai Be by road. Depart from Phu An jetty at 10h00am. Stop along the way for glimpses of local handicrafts that provide a living for the river people. Observe from the comfort of your boat life as it play out on the riverbanks - the people, the stunning landscapes - while your attentive crew serves tea and seasonal fruit.

Before arriving at Sa Dec, go ashore to visit a pottery factory where everything is made by hand and all is recycled.

Arrive in Sa Dec and take a stroll to the outdoor market. Visit the local celebrity: the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, real-life character of the novel and film "The Lover" by Marguerite Duras. Lunch is served on board while cruising towards Can Tho along a narrow canal teeming with life. You will pass monkey bridges and tiny villages before stopping for a visit to a Cao Dai Temple. Cycle or row in a small boat around the countryside to explore the surroundings.

Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house, a “Nha Co” dating back to the 19th Century. The owner welcomes you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic countryside setting. After dinner return on board while Song Xanh continues its cruise towards Hau River. Overnight on board

Day 2: Can Tho (B)

Early wake-up for a visit to the famous Cai Rang Floating Market up at 6h00am which only operates from 5h00 to 8h00am every day. Breakfast is served on board while the Song Xanh navigates towards the market among local barges laden with fruit and vegetales. Be sure to have your camera ready! Later on, cruise towards Victoria Can Tho and disembark at the hotel’s private jetty.

Day 1: Cai Be – Sa Dec

Lunch is served in this exquisite colonial-style villa set in a lush tropical garden by the river. After lunch, start your leisurely cruise on the busy waterways, with stops along the way for glimpses of local cottage industries that provide a living for the river people. Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop to visit a traditional pottery factory where everything is made by hand. Dinner is served on board. Enjoy your first night on board Song Xanh on the Mekong River.

Day 2: Sa Dec - Can Tho

After breakfast served on board step ashore and take a stroll to the outdoor market.Visit the historic house of the real-life character in the novel and film The Lover by Marguerite Duras. Back on board cruise down towards Can Tho along a narrow canal, passing several monkey bridges. Lunch is served on board, before getting ashore for a visit to a Cao Dai Temple. Take a trip on small rowing sampan to explore the small armlets. Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house, a “Nha Co” dating back to the 19th Century where a candlelit dinner will be served. After dinner return on board while your Song Xanh continues its cruise towards Can Tho. Overnight on board.

Day 3: Can Tho

Our journey starts at 6:00 am so you can visit the famous Cai Rang Floating Market. Breakfast is served on board while the Song Xanh navigates towards the market among local barges laden with fruit and vegetables. Be sure to have your camera ready! Later on, cruise towards Victoria Can Tho and disembark at the hotel’s private jetty.

Back on board cruise up towards Long Xuyen along a narrow canal, passing several monkey bridges. Lunch is served on board. Upon arrival in Long Xuyen, visit Tiger Island. Dinner is served at a local house. The owner welcomes you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic environment. After dinner, return on board and resume your cruise towards Chau Doc. Your boat sails until around 10:00 pm before anchoring for the night. Overnight on board.

Day 3: Phu Tan – Chau Doc

Breakfast is served on board while your sampan cruises towards Chau Doc. Close to the border with Cambodia, Chau Doc is the gateway to Phnom Penh. Known throughout Vietnam for its pagodas and temples it is also famous for Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, a superb eucalyptus mangrove. Disembark at Victoria Chau Doc private pier.

Upon arrival in Long Xuyen, visit Tiger Island. After visiting Tiger Island, return on board and resume your cruise towards Rach Gia. Take a short rowing boat on the tinny canal before sunset. Dinner is served while the boat sails on. Overnight on boat near Rach Gia.

Day 3: Rach Gia

Arrive in Rach Gia, the capital city of Kien Giang Province, located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Breakfast is served on board before disembarking. For travelers taking an early flight to Phu Quoc, we serve breakfast as early as 6:00 am.

Be picked up at 8h00am in Saigon and drive to My Thuan Bridge, where you will visit a Cao Dai Temple and Apothecary. After a short ride on a “xe lam” (local tuk tuk), board your Song Xanh sampan and set off for a leisurely cruise on the busy waterways. Welcome drinks are served.

Arrive in Sa Dec and get ashore to visit the Buddhist Nuns Monastery of Phuoc Hue, a wonderfully peaceful provincial monastery where young girls learn the teachings of Buddhism. After a stroll around the flower gardens (Sa Dec is famous for its flower nursery gardens), get back on board where Vietnamese lunch is served. Turn into a narrow canal to discover unspoiled landscapes, luxuriant gardens, children on bicycles… the daily life of the river people. Stop half-way along the canal to visit a small local village. Meet the villagers and get a glimpse of their daily life.

Disembark at Vam Cong Jetty in Long Xuyen. A 1h30 drive will take you through the countryside to the country town of Chau Doc. You can stop either at Victoria Chau Doc Hotel on the bank of the Bassac River or at Victoria Nui Sam Lodge, a charming mountain retreat nestled on Sam Mountain.
